Joshua J. McIntyre

Biography

Joshua J. McIntyre joined Lane & Waterman in 2012 and practices primarily in the areas of intellectual property, information technology, and professional ethics, especially in matters concerning data privacy and data breach, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and attorney ethics.  He enjoys helping businesses, authors, and inventors protect their valuable creative work and data.

Joshua’s authored work has been cited by the Supreme Court of Arizona and in numerous scholarly works on data privacy, including Privacy and Data Protection in Business (LexisNexis 2012) and The Oxford Handbook of Internet Studies (Oxford University Press 2013).  In 2020, he was unanimously approved for Fellowship in the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only honor limited to 250 attorneys across the state.  Joshua serves on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Defense Counsel Association.  In the Quad Cities, Joshua serves as Treasurer of the Dillon Inn of Court; as an officer in the Knights of Columbus; and as Co-Chair of the philanthropic St. Ambrose University Wine Festival.

Joshua received his B.A., summa cum laude, in Computer Investigations and Economics from St. Ambrose University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the DePaul University College of Law.  He is a member of the Order of the Coif and previously served as Editor of Articles, Notes, and Comments for the DePaul Law Review.  He resides in Davenport with his wife and their three children.
