Wendy Meyer joined Lane & Waterman in 2003 and focuses primarily in the areas of administrative, employment, and school law. Wendy also has a broad-based appellate practice.
Wendy provides representation and counsel for public and private school districts, area education agencies, and community and private colleges. She provides guidance on student and personnel issues including student discipline, employee misconduct, and constitutional issues; performs contract and policy review; advises boards on governance issues including open meeting and open records compliance; and represents school districts in proceedings involving special education, civil rights complaints, terminations, and other litigation matters.
Wendy also regularly counsels employers on legal issues stemming from the employment relationship, including background checks, drug testing, wage and hour laws, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, contract disputes, claims of harassment and discrimination, employee leave and accommodation issues, and employment policies and handbooks. She represents clients before administrative agencies and in state and federal court.
Over the years, Wendy has provided numerous trainings and presented on a variety of topics, including harassment, discrimination, FMLA compliance, ADA compliance, effective documentation, and legal updates.
Wendy received her J.D. with distinction from the University of Iowa, where she was the Editor-in-Chief of the “Journal of Corporation Law.” Wendy resides with her family in Davenport, Iowa.
