On February 26, 2026, Lane & Waterman partner Abbey Furlong was inducted as a Fellow to the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL). Fellowship in the IATL is by invitation only upon recommendation from peers and judges and unanimous approval by the Board of Governors. It is limited to 250 attorneys across the state who have dedicated their professional lives primarily to the practice of trial law and who have displayed exceptional skills and the highest integrity. Abbey joins Lane & Waterman attorneys Bob Waterman, Jason O’Rourke, Mikkie Schiltz, Ian Russell, Ben Patterson, and Joshua McIntyre as Fellows.

Abbey joined Lane & Waterman in 2010. Her trial law practice primarily consists of professional malpractice, employment law, and products liability. Abbey had the honor of being inducted into the IATL by her colleague and mentor, Bob Waterman, who concluded his service as President of the IATL this year.
