Lane & Waterman Attorneys Present on Jury Selection at the Dillon Inn of Court

On March 12, 2025, Lane & Waterman attorneys Jenny Juehring, Jonathan McGehee, and David Waterman, along with law firm alumnus Judge John Telleen, led a thought-provoking discussion on jury selection at the Dillon Inn of Court. The session, titled “Voir Dire: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” explored the nuances of jury selection, offering insights for attorneys involved in both civil and criminal trials. The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the history and evolution of jury selection, as well as a deep dive into the Iowa Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure. The speakers examined relevant cases, including recent Iowa appellate decisions, to illustrate the practical application of the rules. The presentation also focused on the goals of voir dire and a practical guide on the dos and don’ts of picking a jury.
