Bob Waterman and Abbey Furlong successfully defended a Dubuque chiropractor in a professional malpractice action in which the plaintiff alleged a chiropractic adjustment to his cervical spine caused a disc herniation, requiring the plaintiff to undergo spinal surgery and leaving him permanently injured. The plaintiff further alleged the defendant chiropractor failed to obtain informed consent prior to the chiropractic manipulative therapy at issue. The plaintiff sought in excess of $430,000 in damages. Following four days of trial, the Dubuque County jury returned a unanimous defense verdict finding the defendant chiropractor was not liable on either of plaintiff’s claims.
