Lane & Waterman Successfully Defends Industrial Contractor Accused of Discrimination
Bob Waterman and Mikkie Schiltz successfully defended an industrial contractor performing work in Sioux City, Iowa, whose former employee claimed he was discriminated against and subjected to a hostile work environment due to his race. A federal district judge for the Northern District of Iowa dismissed all nine of the former employee’s claims finding (1) that the industrial contractor had established legitimate, non-discriminatory reasons for the employee’s termination related to the employee’s misconduct, (2) that the employee was not subjected to a hostile work environment, and (3) the employee could not establish any discriminatory pay or discipline.
