Lane & Waterman attorney Rand S. Wonio defended the City of Davenport in a lawsuit brought by Dr. Allan Diercks and Patricia Lane.  Diercks and Lane contended that a contract between the City and Deloitte & Touche for accounting services in connection with a proposed acquisition of the Isle of Capri Casino was illegal and void.  They also contended that the City violated the Iowa Open Records Act when it did not produce Deloitte’s accounting work papers.  After a three-day trial, Judge Stuart Werling held in favor of the City and dismissed the case.
